Big Birthday Girl!

I can't believe that we have had Ariah in our lives for one year! In Landon's words it does not seem like a year has gone by but it also seems like we have had her forever because we can't remember what life was like before her.

Her Big Day!

Who was there: Great grandparents Layton and Grandma Ricks

The theme: butterflies!

Gifts: Landon and I gave her a baby doll, a big flap book and a magnetic toy. Grandparents Ricks gave her an adorable pink and brown outfit. And later that day Franchesca gave her a shape sorter. Great grandma Sippy gave her a play phone and a ball. She had more fun tearing off the paper than had interest with the toys. Now without the paper she has really enjoyed them.

The Cake: I decided to decorate her cake with fruit and homemade cream cheese/whip cream frosting. I had no idea what I was going to do other than that but I think my mom and I came up with a really great cake and Ariah loved the fruit on it. The whole time we were making it she was saying MMMM and NUMMY while holding on to our legs trying to get a peak.
Of course she had her own piece. At first she was really timid and only picked off the fruit. Then she started to notice the frosting tasted good and it got messy from there. She started to get handfuls and squish it in her fingers then shove it in her mouth and lick her fingers clean. Then in between fistfuls she would stretch her tummy up and arch er back to make room for more. By the end of her slice she was eating with no hands, just mouth vs. plate. We had a great time watching her.

Humm... How are we going to do this?

The After Party: I really wanted to have a fun activity so we took Ariah swimming for the first time at Green Canyon. At first she was really nervous about all the chaos but seeing her little buddy Franchesca having a good time made her feel better about it. She loved to side on the side of the pool and slide in to mom and dad. Splashing was also a favorite.. until she got splashed. It was a really fun time.

The Second After Party: On her real birthday (day after cake party) we went with grandparents Ricks to see great grandma Sippy and other family. On the way there I caught her sucking on her baby doll's binky. It was so funny because it is tied to the baby's neck so in order for her to get it in her mouth she the baby's head was right in her face. Ha ha. She had a great time that weekend playing with grandma Sippy and Justin and Ashley and other family.

One year over. I just can't believe it. We love her so much and are so glad she chose to come to our family. We can't wait to see all the fun one more year will bring!
